Dear friend,
Saturday, August 13, 2005 was a very difficult day for the friends and
family of LIT Group. On this day Loan Nguyen, our beloved friend and LIT
Group’s former Tech Manager, lost her battle with cancer.
You had to know Loan to really appreciate her passion for people and for life.
She was without a doubt one of the most selfless and genuine people I have
ever known. She was a breath of fresh air each time I interacted with her.
As the manager of our Tech department Loan quickly became known as “Mamma Tech”
earning the respect and trust of her entire team and everyone around her. Loan
leaves a loving husband and two beautiful children ages 21 and 4.
As I sat in the cold room at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton yesterday for Loan’s
service, I was overwhelmed with the realization that I have done this too often.
In addition to one of our original founders, on May
12, 2000, Elsa Reyna lost her battle with cancer leaving 3 children ages 21, 19,
and 13. And now, on this rainy afternoon, I sat with my fellow team members
saying farewell to another friend.
I believe that too many people are sitting on the sidelines observing the fight
to find a cure. Too many people believe that they cannot make a difference.
This is not my way and is not the LIT way! You might know a little bit about my
spirit and the spirit of the LIT team. We believe we can make a difference.
Whether we are battling child abuse and neglect, combating poverty, or helping
the homeless, we do it with a passion and a commitment to make a difference.
We believe that one person can change the world and we believe that we can move
mountains when we work together!
As LIT Group and I enter the battle to find a cure, I ask that you join with me.
Let us take a stand against this deadly disease. Let us build a coalition to
raise funds for cancer research and aid in the process of finding a cure. I have
set up the Reyna/Nguyen Memorial
Fund in memory and in honor of Elsa and Loan.
I know what you are thinking; I am too busy to participate, I don’t have enough
money to help, I support many other causes… I too thought these things before
creating this fund and before I wrote this message to ask for your support.
Before you close this message please consider this… The purpose of life is to make
the world a better place than it was before we arrived. If we help, regardless
of how small our contribution, we will be able to fulfill this purpose. Every
little bit helps. If you cannot contribute heavily, please contribute what you
can – I am counting on you to help me take a stand against an evil that is stealing
our loved ones from us each and every day. Let’s join the fight for a cure and
make an impact!
All donations will be provided to the American Cancer Society and your donation
is tax deductible. Contributing is easy – just click here and make a donation and
